"...The Russian market for rotary pumps has been characterized by high growth rates throughout the last decade. This was primarily due to a high degree of the process and engineering equipment wear in industry, deterioration of the housing infrastructure, which resulted in a growing demand for renovation, and to the development of housing and commercial construction in the country.
The high attraction of the Russian rotary pump market conditioned a considerable growth of competition, associated with an aggressive expansion of business in Russia by the leading world manufacturers of the pumping equipment, which produced a notable impact on the redistribution of the market positions among the industry players.
In 2009 the Russian market of the pumping equipment encountered a significant decrease of demand, which was primarily caused by a reduction of investment activity of the commercial users, by a reduction of construction rates in the country, and by a considerable decrease of funds for housing infrastructure modernization programs in the regions of Russia.
At the same time, despite a considerable reduction of sales volumes, which was experienced by practically all the leading manufacturers and importers of rotary pumps in 2009, the Russian market has demonstrated a good dynamics as regards restitution of demand, having exceeded the pre-crisis indications ..."
