Russian PVMA - market in 2007

PVMA PRODUCTION

Russia

As compared to 2006, the volume of output increased by 21.1% in kind and 68.1% in terms of money.

The structure of PVMA output has changed considerably. The main BVMA consumer is such an actively developing agricultural sector as poultry-raising. In 2007, the share of BVMA output for poultry constituted 47.63% in kind and 49.42% in terms of money. The share of BVMA output for pigs was 38.41% in kind and 37.87% in terms of money. The share of BVMA output for cattle was 13.96% in kind and 11/71% in terms of money.

 Ukraine

Against the 2006 data, the volume of BVMA output in Ukraine increased by 40.5% in kind and 95.5% in terms of money.

The structure of BVMA output does not change considerably. As before, the largest share of BVMA is produced for poultry (52.4% in kind and 55.31% in terms of money). In 2007, the share of BVMA output for pigs constituted 36.05% in kind and 35.92% in terms of money. The share of BVMA output for cattle is the smallest. In 2007, it constituted 11.55% and 8.77% respectively.

Belarus

Considering the growing demand of poultry-raising and livestock-breeding for mixed fodder, enterprises are raising the efficiency of production capacity utilization on a permanent basis. In 2007, the volume of mixed fodder output in Belarus increased by 30.2% as compared to the same period of the previous years. In terms of money, the volume of output was 74.85% higher than in 2006.

The output structure remains unchanged. The largest share of output falls on BVMA for poultry (50.4% and 52.23% respectively).

BVMA IMPORT

Russia

As compared to similar 2006 indicators, the market of imported BVMA has grown considerably. The increase constituted 27.13% in kind and 76.14% in terms of money.

In 2007, the structure of BVMA output did not suffer any substantial changes. As before, the largest share fell on BVAM for poultry (51% in kind and 52.04% in terms of money). The share of BVMA for pigs was 44.16% and 43.96% respectively, and the share of BVMA for cattle constituted 4.84% in kind and 4% in terms of money.

In 2007, the leader in BVMA supply was Hendrix N.V. Company with a market share of 22.67% in kind and 22.5% in terms of money. Large BVMA amounts were also supplied by Koudijs Feed B.V. Company (19.6% and 19.84% respectively), Kretingos Grūdai JSC (16% and 16/32% respectively) and Provimi B.V. (11.2% and 11.14% respectively).

The total share of import from the top ten supplier companies constituted 91.83% in kind and 92.06% in terms of money.

Ukraine

In 2007, the volume of import decreased by 14.3% in kind and grew by 18.82% in terms of money.

In 2007, 60.9% of all imported BVMA in kind and 60% in terms of money were intended for pig fodder.

The share of BVMA import for poultry constituted 35.27% in kind and 36.82% in terms of money.

The share of BVMA import for cattle was small as usual. In 2007, it constituted 3.83% in kind and 3.18% in terms of money.

In 2007, leading BVMA suppliers to Ukraine were Polish companies Provimi B.V. (with the share of import constituting 55.02% in kind and 55.03% in terms of money), SANO-Nowoczesne Zywienie Zwierzat Sp.z.o.o. (with the share of import constituting 22.26% and 21.93% respectively) and Wytwornya Pasz Wipasz Sp.z.o.o. (with the share of import of 3.3% and 2.97% respectively).

The total of BVMA deliveries by six leading companies from Poland, Belgium and the Netherlands in 2007 constituted 89.04% in kind and 88.58% in terms of money.

Belarus

The volume of BVMA import into the Republic of Belarus is insignificant. Its enterprises mostly meet the requirements of their agriculture in premixes (which constitute a part of BVMA). A partial shortage of proteins is compensated by import.

A stabilizing impact on the status of the country’s fodder base is produced by projects of changing the line of business of relevant enterprises to the production of BVMA from off-grade grain and grain-processing wastes.

BVMA EXPORT

Russia

No external trade in BVMA with Russia’s participation as an exporting country is actually carried out. In 2007, the volume of BVMA export was down by 66.2% in kind and 75.62% in terms of money.

As in the previous reporting periods, the maximum share in the structure of BVMA export in 2007 belonged to BVMA for poultry (70.44% in kind and 70.97% in terms of money). BVMA export for pigs was resumed (with the share of export of 29.56% in kind and 29.03% in terms of money).

The main BVMA sales markets in 2007, as in the previous years, were the CIS countries.

Ukraine

The BVMA export from Ukraine is decreasing year in year out. The process is taking place against the background of a trend towards increasing demand for all-in-one feed from domestic consumers, primarily the public sector.

In 2007, BVMA export was down by 22.1% against 2006 in kind, and by 19.96% against 2006 in terms of money.

Most of BVMA from Ukraine have traditionally been exported to CIS countries. Large BVMA consignments were exported to Russia (the share of delivery constituted 59.34% both in kind and in terms of money).

In 2007, Ukrainian BVMA were exported to six countries: Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Lithuania, Italy, Moldova and Turkmenistan.

Belarus

The volume of BVMA export from Belarus is small, so it produces no impact on the market volume and therefore is not taken into consideration.

BVMA CONSUMPTION

Russia

In 2007, the volume of the Russian BVMA market increased by 25% in kind and 73.65% in terms of money. The latter was due to a growth of prices on the protein and vitamin BVMA components.

The share of import in the volume of the Russian BVMA market was 53.73%.

The share of BVMA export in the output was negligibly small and constituted only 0.33% in 2007.

In 2007, the volume of the BVMA market increased by 22.24% in kind and 77.94% in terms of money.

The share of BVMA import in the market volume constituted 39.53%, and the share of BVMA export in the output constituted 17.55%.

Belarus

Based on the analyzed data it can be noted that the BVMA market capacity has been increasing in Belarus in the past few years, mostly thanks to the growing amounts of BVMA production.
